WoW, I’m a Draenei

November 29, 2006

OK, this has absolutely nothing to do with knitting, but I am so psyched I had to post! As I mentioned in an earlier post, the DH and I enjoy a game called World of Warcraft. Well this January they are releasing their expansion pack to the game. (FINALLY) We got to beta test it before release…WoW, love it. The new Alliance race is incredible. So here she is, w/out further ado…my new alter ego, (note the name).

Kureyon, Draenei Warrior, level 10

January 16th cannot get here fast enough!

New Family Traditions

November 28, 2006

My husband expressed his desire to start a few new Christmas traditions for our new family, so first on the list, we needed stockings. Now I have always made stockings in the past, but my DH said why don’t we each make our own? Great Idea! So, we bought green felt, and red felt and lots of things to decorate them with. It was funny, I made the template so we could trace and cut out our stockings and the DH looked at us and said, “Don’t you think those are a little big?” The monkey and I looked at each other and said in unison, “Nah.” *L*

We have been working on them in the evenings after dinner. It’s been such a great time. We put on Christmas music and away we go. Check out the monkey with embroidery floss hanging out of her lip.

And of course the dogs wanted to know why mom was standing on the chair in the middle of the kitchen, “Hmmm, she must have biscuits, yup, that’s it, sit and she will give us one.”

Turkey Hangover

November 25, 2006

Now that we are all slowly creeping out from our turkey comas. I thought I would prove that although I have been sicker than a dog, I have been productive!

First off, my mom got herself a spiffy new digital camera (Mom, please tell Santa I would like the same model…thanks) and sent this great little pic of her tootsies being warmed by the infamous Birthday Socks. When I went home to NY I had to add about an inch and a half to give proper tootsie wiggling room. Ta Dah!

And here is a much better fitting baby hat, modeled by the lovely Casey; she’s a real doll, whipped up on the drive home from NY, 100% Alpaca, and at this rate, he will outgrow it before I get it to Sir Collin!

I took a week and knit for myself and here is the progress on my Ribbi Cardi, I ripped it out about 4 inches into it as I realized…*sigh* I was going to need to knit the next size up.

Then there are these mystery Christmas socks I am knitting…I kinda like the way this works up. I think the intended recipient will really enjoy these.

And here are the mittens I am working on for the monkey, she has requested mittens and a hat for Christmas. Yep, those are some BIG mittens, they are going to be felted. I can’t wait to see how the yarn looks once they are done.

And last but not least, the hubby and I went to look for a new living room suite. We found…I still can’t believe it…a gorgeous sofa with a GLIDER LOVESEAT! Do you know what this means? I can actually sit in a moving chair, very necessary to achieve my perfect zen like knitting state, and sit with the DH at the same time! He loves it! Here are the fabrics We chose: the center will be the color of the furniture and the two accents will be a ton of pillows. Yay! We will probably place our order next year, which really isn’t that far away.

Well, as you can see, I’ve been a busy little kid. Today is no different, today we will pull all the Christmas stuff out of the attic and today I get to make my husband climb up on the roof to hang Christmas lights. I told him we should go Griswald! He said it wasn’t in the budget.

Happy Thanksgiving

November 23, 2006

I have so much to be thankful for this year, it’s hard to know where to begin. Sometimes I think that it’s a bit silly to remember our blessings one day out of the year. God truly is good, and my prayer for myself and all of us, is that we would be thankful every day, and that every day we would remember that there is always something to be thankful for.

I am thankful for my daughter and how well she is adjusting to the move to PA, I am thankful that she is healthy, happy, and doing amazing in school.

I am thankful for my new husband and his family. I know that God put him in my life, He reminds me of it daily as I see the many different ways that Travis loves me.

I am thankful, now more than ever, for my family. It is usually said that you don’t know how much you love something until it’s gone. When I moved this year, I started missing people that I didn’t think I would, and other people who I thought were so important faded from my life.

I am thankful for my health, for the way God provides for me and my family.

I am thankful for this wonderful community of knitters and each person whom I have come to know better in the past months.

Enjoy today, enjoy your family, enjoy each other, be thankful. Eat lots of turkey, take a long nap and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

My Dad is Thankful that I lost my voice…

November 21, 2006

Home was awesome. Food was great. Family was even better. I lost my voice and was the butt of the joke all weekend, (no pity, I’m used to it) it was a great weekend. I still feel crappy. It’s the second day at work that I haven’t been able to anser the phone (secretly happy).

I knit a teeny weeny baby hat for Sir Collin on the way home Sunday night. I think the monkey and her buddy were ready for some time apart because they bickered the whole way home. She was car sick when we got home too. Poor kid. Oh well.

I will post pictures later when I am not so fuzzy and tired.

Going Home

November 17, 2006

We are going home to NY for an early Thanksgiving dinner. I have a cold, my head is stuffed and I will probably flub this whole post because I just feel fuzzy. OH well. Anyway, I am bringing my dear friend Mel home with us. She’s really excited. I am packing a ton of knitting for the 4 1/2 hour drive and the leisurely weekend including: my so called scarf, a new baby hat for the darling nephew (sorry no pics, have to wait until mom brings him home), and yet another pair of socks for someone for Christmas.

I can’t wait to get on the road! Is it 4:00 yet?!?
